The most common mistake we see businesses make when running social media (SM) campaigns, results from a fundamental misunderstanding of how people buy.

Here’s what happens – a well-meaning employee watches a few Youtube videos, whips up a Facebook Ad campaign, designs a free ebook to give away and pumps $500 into the budget. Three days later, the weekly budget has been blown and there’s nothing left to show for it except a massive migraine and a frenzied search history. 

See, the problem is – people just don’t know who you are, or trust you enough to make a spontaneously purchase or provide their information online.

The key is to establish yourself within their awareness well before you even present them with an offering! Most studies show you need between 6-9 “touch points” before a user trusts you enough to take action… So what do you do? Create content! More specifically, content for your clients that holds significant value – everything to show you know exactly what you’re talking about, you’re here to help, and start generating some of that brand and image awareness.

From there, we use an “intelligence-map” to re-market to users who have engaged with this content. For example, we might say “Any user who watches until at least 2 minutes into this video, we now show them this ad” or “Any user who clicks through to our lead page but doesn’t convert – we now show this follow up post”.

In this way, we make sure we follow up every possible user who is likely to convert, and guide them towards making the right choice.

While creating and operating these campaigns can be confusing and time-consuming, the results when it’s done right are unparalleled!
